SSHP Committees
Academic
Chairs: Jagar Rau (CS) & Elizabeth Francis (KV)
Our committee is directed towards providing opportunities for SSHP members to enhance certain academic skills in order to prepare themselves for future practice. We plan to offer workshops and informational sessions on internships opportunities, CV/resume building, letters of intent, and presentations regarding academic topics. We also plan to hold guestspeakers to provide students insight, enhance their clinical knowledge, and improve practical skills.
Advocacy
Chairs: Kevin Nguyen
Our committee regularly updates SSHP members with summaries of recent news regarding pharmacy legislative, drug-related topics, and social/public impact.
Ambulatory
Chairs: Melanie McGill (CS), Matthew Senteno & Nicholas Salgado
Our committee exposes students to the process of managing various disease states in an ambulatory care setting. We plan to hold informational presentations and patient care events to provide students opportunities to educate certain patient populations on improving their health outcomes.
Fundraising
Chairs: Christabel Igwe (KV) & Doan- Nhi Nguyen
Our committee engages in activites that raise funds, foster fellowship and build school spirit.
Infectious Disease
Chairs: Christabel Igwe (KV), Braxton Park (KV), Alaine Say (CS) & Elliot Alanis
Our committee is directed towards sharing infographics and holding presentations with guest speakers regarding infectious disease topics. We will share information on public prevention, infectious disease medications and management.
Medication Safety
Chairs: Megan Wolken (CS) & Angel Alaniz
Our committee works to share infographics and presentations regarding medication safety tips and procedures in community and institutional pharmacy. We plan to hold patient care events for students to practice these safety procedures and help education certain patient populations on preventing medication errors that may harm them or others.
Membership/Social
Chairs: Madison McGuire (CS) & Ingrid Jimenez (KV)
Our committee coordinates events to engage students participation and build school spirit.
Oncology
Chairs: Mollie Schatz (CS), Ailis Abalos & Yulianna Laurencin
Our committee shares infographics and presentations regarding oncology news, medications, and procedures. We plan to enhance students' knowledge regarding oncology.
